That seems unlikely, as Vista was never meant for low end hardware.

No there was a Windows XP Starter Edition too.

But XP wasn't either (or was it?) and Microsoft managed to get that on less than 1gb.

Edit: Changed Micro$haft to Microsoft

I understand that they did have an FLP planned, but i doubt it will come any time soon, considering how new the XP-Based FLP is.
Also, XP FLP was basically XP Embedded with an installer. There is no Vista Embedded, or anything similar coming soon. Probably because it will be a tough job minimising Vistas footprint

Am waiting for Windows 7 FLP. If the system's as efficient as it claims to be, then am really looking forward to seeing an FLP release. The main reason why I reckon they had to release FLP is because from 9x to XP and XP to Vista, they made the system requirements higher and higher, and there needed to be an interim-type release.

Still a good reason to convert to Linux. How often do you see massive increases in the requirements for that?

Apparently, there is a Vista Embedded in two flavors - Ultimate and Business. But I haven't seen it in use yet, yet Microsoft mentions it on this page.

Haven't even seen an evaluation version, but I think they'll be able to strip it down for some sort of embedded device.

But of course, XP Embedded is a better choice - light, efficient - hell, it's part of Windows Fundamentals.
