Hey, All,

I just went to accesories to open paint and it's not there! I did a search and it's not in my C:\WINDOWS either! But, i have the MSPAINT.EX_ from the /i386 folder on the disc, on my harddrive. Is there anyway i can get it back?

That won't work unless you use the "-r" switch. Enter:
Code:
expand d:\i386\mspaint.ex_ %systemroot%\mspaint.exe

If your optical drive has a letter different to the example above, change it accordingly.

What version of Windows is this - on the older ones you could install Windows without a lot of the Accessories, it let you choose when you installed, not sure if Paint was optional or not. Otherwise it's strange that it should not be there, unless this is some kind of customised install CD that has had things taken out of it.

They aren't actually all the same - while all versions should work on any version of Windows (except Vista, most of the Vista apps seem to be compiled in such a way that they don't run on older versions), they are not exactly the same eg the older ones won't have support for XP's common dialogs/common controls.
