Post subject: Longhorn 3663 Posted: Tue Jun 19, 2007 5:55 pm
hello, theres one in my icq list, who says that he has a m1 of longhorn (he thinks it 3663), i cant really believe, he said, a friend gave it to him, could that be possible or is he only a silly liar? he said, he lost the cd, but hes going to search for it and if he find it, he will release it (i hope he really has got it )
In fact, i know nothing about Milestone 1. I know that 3663 is Milestone 2 build and propably it was firs build ever compiled. There is earlyer build of M2 numbered 3646 (Lab01_N(portbld).020612-1346) but im not sure it even exists because kernel version was .net 3663 so build 3663 had to be 1st ever compiled.

Althought, everybody knows that MS did kernel switch after 4094 to 5000 era (based on WS2k3 3790 as far as i remember). While i'm thinking about M1 and M2 builds before 3663 i think there was another kernel switch so M1 and M2 before 3663 were compiled on earlier .net/XP kernel, than builds 3663 - 4094 were compiled on 3663 kernel, than builds 3790 + 5000 - 6000 were compiled on 3790 kernel. But that's only my theory
The Xbetas group had it and they posted screenshots of it, but they didn't leak it. The build number of 3646 was only found referenced in a file from 4074.
i believe its an beta of windows server 03,but not longhorn, they, as i read, put only their XBETAS logo on it, the original highres screens are in the "screenshots of unleaked builds" thread

Those screens were not taken by xBetas so they hadn't that build...
The Longhorn build line started off before build 3646 from the then-existing Windows .NET Server (which became S2k3) codebase. From that point development continued separately, but starting from the same build number (3600? 3605?). There was a .NET Server build 3646 (issued June 10, 2002, see here) and a Longhorn build 3646 (issued June 12, 2002, the evidence being the build tag "Lab01_N(portbld).020612-1346"). The date difference clearly indicates that the separation of the codebases occurred before build 3646.
The first on the list from here reports the earliest Longhorn build as "Longhorn 6.00.3551 Alpha Build tag: lab01_n(storbuild).010917-1031" but it wasn't codenamed Longhorn until 3646 Build.
It would be awesome if he leaks this build, finally the first glitch of longhorn ever seen to public is going to leak (hopefully) this is an huge breakthrough in the longhorn beta scene.
I would just drive to germany only for a copy of that build (if he also lives in germany just like you)
