Here is a video of what Vista should have been.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9ifQvQCO7Y

Anybody know what Longhorn build that is (if it even exists that is)?

The video is from PDC03 i think, so about that time is Longhorn 405x, however as far as I know practically none of the really fancy stuff you see in the video has leaked. It's too bad, it looks like it would have been excellent. :(

From what I played around with in the early Longhorn betas, some of the stuff shown was being implemented but it was dumped. Too bad... Maybe the next version of Windows will have it :P

its sad how Microsoft starts with something so great but they let it go down the drain so easily.

It's fun to see that on the desktop there are MusicMatch Jukebox icons ... perhaps their design team didn't like their own Windows Media Player? :P

There are no positives for 7 as faras I know. One suggestion and internet rumour has been that the taskbar would be replaced with a sidebar that was integrated into the shell. That kind of sidebar was shown in early versions of longhorn beta but is nothing like the sidebar we now have in vista.
But like I say thats nothing definite.

Did builds like that exist or was that just a video concept?

They would have been excellent if it had the 4051/53/74 Slate theme, but with glass.

My PC won't render those animations :(. Also, they haven't shown all spyware techniques implemented from applications to the Kernel.

In Poland, MS is loosing part of customers - they still use Windows 98. There should be some alternative Windows for older computers.

Well... It's not a crap at all... Maybe it is not what we thought it will be but its not so bad...
Oh, well... LH was much better imo ;)

And this what is on that video is a good concept. AFAIK most of Longhorn's concepts was flash applications...

there is Windows FLP (or something)

I liked the old sidebar better, like how you could integrate the taskbar into it. microsoft should have released some better sidebar gadgets. i would have at least expected a wmp one (they had a cool wmp gadget at pdc03/4, whenever 4051 came out) because right now all the sidebar is useful for is telling the time (out of the box that is)

edit: what made me  was bill gates playing who wants to be a millionare

edit2: i also think my harddrive would go nuts reading all those file details that fast
