It looks like Windows Home Server is going to be very customisable, with code samples and an SDK for Visual Studio that will let you write apps that will not only run on the WHS server (and therefore, a normal copy of Server 2003) but will also integrate with the nice WHS management console. This will make it possible to make some pretty sweet applications for it. The WHS console is nice enough, but how nice would it be to see a "Torrents" tab there too? :D

Quote:
Windows Home Server is a platform:

* Built using the same technologies found in Windows Server 2003 SP2
* Includes IIS 6.0 with Service Pack 1
* Includes the .NET Framework 2.0
* Includes Windows Media Connect
* Can host/run almost any custom Windows Service
* Extensible Management Interface for remote Management

Since it is a server, this means you can setup your own Web site “MyOwnSite.com” using services like Dynamic DNS, and host

* Your own Personal Web Site
* Your own Community/Portal using .NET Nuke or Community Server Personal Edition
* Setup your own Radio Station say “MyOwnDormRoomRadio.com”
* Setup your own dynamically updating Web cam
* Ventrio or TeamSpeak
* Your own game server

Can't wait for the beta. :D They're really working hard to make it not only for home n00bs but also for geeks who want to use it in their home.

The current Release Candidate for Windows 2003's SP2 includes some files and folders for WHS. Specifically, all the stuff for generation of Product ID's on setup. I'm thinking that the final release of Win2k3 SP2 may include more stuff from WHS.
