I have a machine that just will not boot from a burnt CD, which I'm guessing is a fluke. it's old enough that it doesn't have USB boot support either.

SO, my question is: Will the XP SP2 boot floppies work with an XP SP3 install disc?

Just wondering before I possibly waste time on it.

it should work seeing as the only thing that changed is a few updates. I don't think that setup will reject the boot floppies just because the Service Pack isn't the same...

You could always use this: http://oldfiles.org.uk/powerload/bootdisk/oldbios.exe

Its a universal boot disk that will allow a computer to boot from a CD as if it was an option in the bios.

I used to use it in my old laptop that didn't have native CD booting in the bios.
