Since April 14, MS isn't obliged to release ANY functionality updates for Windows XP. And since WMP is part of the Windows, probably not. But you can move to Windows 7 for free :)

If they port it to Vista maybe...I sure hope they make a XP version

I just hope they dont remove the mini player in the taskbar on XP and/or Vista as they did on Windows 7

I like 7, but it's just not for me. Although I might tweak the crap out of it once it RTMs.

I miss my old Win 9x/2k look.

Vista and 7 just kinda screwed it up.

No, beta of course (now RC). But it works till March 2 2010. Almost whole year. And MS surely will make some contests to advertize 7. That way I got Windows Server 2008 (Heroes Happen Here). In Poland, there was a promotion where you could buy Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 (it was after releasing SP1) for only 30zł (~7€). So yeah, if you think of it for a while, you can get Windows in free of charge and totally legal way :)

But both Vista and 7 have classic theme from 9x. On Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2 you even have to set up Aero theme (classic is the default one).

Mainstream support for will XP will end very soon, so don't hold your breath.

I suppose I could live with WMP 11 if I had to.

The thing I don't like about how 7 and Vista handle the classic theme is that when you open a window the outside of the window draws first, then the contents. I'd be perfectly happy if I could fix that. Just a pet-peeve of mine.

I wish I could buy legal Windows for 30zł/$10 USD. That way I wouldn't have to resort to being a pirate.

You can get windows (server) free through Microsoft DreamSpark, if you're at university... though that's not useful for everyone. But it's free, and legitimate, and you can use it as a desktop o/s if you like.

What's even more better is if your university is in affiliation with MSDNAA programme which gives your Windows XP, Windows Vista, and development tools (Visual Studio) for free!

Plus, MSDN-AA is not just limited to Universities, if you're lucky like me, you can get it at College too :P

Lucky you then. I only have free TechNet+ subscription, so no Visual Studio for me  (even though I can get it illegally)...

I'd rather have the Technet myself :P

The MSDN-AA is limited to the mainstream stuff, which you can get easy enough illegitimately. Still, not complaining about having MSDN-AA :P

Holy moly! The downside of having MSDNAA is you didn't get Microsoft Office!
