Hey People,

I'm very new to this forum and i was interrested in the Beta Builds of Windows, so i started with this Whistler Beta
I burned it at a CD and want to use it as a second OS.
The CD was in my Drive and i press load from CD and later it says Windows Whistler is loading files, after that it loads, but it freezes, i wait for 20 minutes, but nothing happens :?

My PC Specs:

AMD Dual Core 4,7+
Nvidia 8600 GT with 1GB Ram
2 GB Ram (2x1GB)
80 GB HDD
Main OS: Windows XP x86 Service Pack 3 Final
Second OS: Windows 7 Build 6801 x64
DVD-RW

I hope someone can help me how to do it :)

Did you burn it at the slowest speed? The CD might be corrupt.

Have you considered running it in virtual machine? It would save a lot of problems... Installing betas on real systems may be sometimes very problematic :P

Burning at maximum speed is not Recommended.

burning at minimum speed is the BEST for software AND verify the CD after burning (Nero has this option).

And an normal CD takes about 10 minutes, lazy mans guide for burning.

1) Put in CD
2) Fire up the burn program, select the CD image to burn
3) Set to lowest speed.
4) Select Start to begin
5) Take a leak in the bathroom, wash your hands, take a cup of water
6) Come back and the CD is done.

But really.
Always burn at the lowest speed then you get an better CD that has less change of getting corrupt.

And also go with the Virtual Machines, VMWare/Virtual PC you don't have to find drivers for it and most drivers for 2000 and XP doesn't work on Alpha/Beta.

Your timing couldnt be better. I've just installed Whistler build 2416 on my tablet pc (it working great!) and had the same problem, but i figured out that if you disable DMA and PIO on standard in BIOS (hard disk/IDE/Sata settings) that it will get past this screen! And after the installation set the settings back and iy will still work!

Good luck!

You've changed the bios dates right, if not then DJRob's Windows Collection Site will have it, But that build of whistler is about 8-9 years old so it's likely that your hardware is too new. Test it on Microsoft Virtual PC (VPC is free)
