Hi,

I am wanting to use 2003 as a main OS (have the MS CDs) as windows XP is driving me up the wall, and I heard that 2003 is quicker and more stable than XP. Is it possible for XP drivers to work in 203 ?? as they are both Windows NT 6 builds??

Thanks

Ewan

I used server 2003 as a main os, however very breifly.
I had no problem's getting my xp driver's to work with it, but htis isn't exactly my area of expertise (I'm beginning to think I don't have any)
Anyway, I doubt you'll have any prob's, but you'll just have to try and see :P

EDIT: 150th post, Kudos to me...
150 more and I get another shiny gold star

The NVIDIA drivers for XP, at least the ones for my 6200 work fine on 2003, as long as you enable full hardware acceleration.

Certainly any major hardware company's XP drivers will work for 2003. 95% of all XP drivers work on 2003.

There is a VTP for 2k3. Though if you want the Vista look, why not try Vista? (Unless it's a really low-spec PC)

Still, Vista is effectively a 120-day trial with the activation resetting. Microsoft use this method to advertise Windows Server 2008 as a 240-day trial.

Yes, If you want the Vista experience, and your obviously open to using a server os, why not download the Windows Server 2008 Trial free from Microsoft.
It's essentially Vista, but as Hounsell said, has a rediculously long trial period.

It's not Just essentially Vista, it is Vista SP1 (well, actually, it'd probably be more correct to say Vista SP1 is Server 2008 but meh). The only difference is Server 2008 has a different set of components (like Server components included, no Media Center obviously) and different services enabled.
