ok so I have my Compaq nc6220. and I want to install Whistler 2419... I have a few things tho.

1. Is this stable enough for occasional use?
2. Do I use 2000 drivers, or XP drivers?
3. Does this thing support Flash and Java?

Specs:

1.73 Ghz Intel Pentium M
1.5 GB RAM
GMA900 Mobile
Intel 2200BG Wireless Card

for more info: http://hp.com <-- search for Compaq nc6220

1. It should be. 2419 is a later release, and is also one of the more popular XP builds. It uses watercolor, so should feel similar to longhorn (not the earlier, not the later product). Whistler Beta 1.
2. I strongly believe XP drivers.
3. No idea.

goodies, I will pull out 2000 and XP, I think 2000, because XP is for RTM, SP1, SP2. :P.

Uhmm.

Install an RTM Version of Windows and then install Virtual PC or VMWare Workstation and then install that build?

wow, chill.

I would suggest to do it like that, but its your choice.
Most drivers dont work on beta windows, so use the 2000 drivers (because XP are RTM = 2600)

And a checklist before installing:
1) Harddisk Clean (1 partition, formatted with 2000 NTFS or use FAT)
2) No hardware failures?
3) Is your CD corrupt, files missing?

And by the looks of it stops before you see Welcome to setup.

And with whistler builds is stuck at that screen also (very long, longer than the XP RTM) on VPC/VMWare.

4) How long did you wait until you turned it off?

If you answered to the checklist some of us here know whats going on then and can help you better.

And for the software, if it supports 2000 RTM (No service packs, just build 2195) then it should work.

2. The disc is fresh off the burner :|
3. I waited 3 hours.

Hey Wildeye,

I suggest to burn the CD again. It may be corrupted and even if its fresh out of the burner, the burner could have done some mistakes while burning.
If that doesn't work, try to check if the archive/iso you've downloaded isn't corrupted. If there was a MD5-Checksum, try to validate the Archive/ISO with the program WinMD5 (google is your friend).

Hope this helps,

betalarry
