Not sure how to phrase this question to make sense...but here goes.

1. First off, what's the difference in a Windows XP CD slipstreamed with SP3 and one that has SP3 on it straight from Microsoft/OEM manufacturer?...is there a difference?

2. Will a Windows XP image spipstreamed with SP3 require a SP3 or can it use the previous SP2 key? Is Microsoft issuing new keys with SP3 that won't work with SP2 builds of Windows XP? (Mostly applying to OEM versions since Retail keys are tied to their original media.)

Hope this makes sense...if not, lemme know and I'll try to further ellaborate. Thanks!

P.S. - Just tried to install Windows XP Home (Retail) with SP3 Post-Slipstream and when asked for the key, I didn't supply one, yet it did not allow me to advance further. So based on this, only a Windows XP SP3 CD will allow me to bypass the key entry, right?

1) No, OEM and Microsoft uses the same method of slipstreaming (with switches, not nlite).

2) Its requires a normal XP key, slipstream only on XP, otherwise your key isnt excepted.
For OEM licenses, buy a new CD from them, do not slipstream your own SP3 because some files are changed.

OEM uses retail versions wich need to be activated, but when installing the install looks at the BIOS serial and then it desides that its already activated.

Only SP2c requires new keys, because the XP keys have run empty.
