Why do people blur the build number?

I found this screenie online and in the related article, the "reasons" for both were that the those details could link a trace to the person who leaked it... makes no sense to me unless only one MS employee had that build with a weird specific amount of memory lol

It just signifies the compile number and fork.

I know, what I was saying is the only way you could use the number to trace an emplyee is if the one that was leaked was only given to a small group of people.

then find all the people who have unusual memory totals..?
still, it is a strange thing to blur out.

if it a post-beta 1, that it has number 5241, if I am not mistaken.
I have some DVD "Centro", but I do not know what build on them, because yet did not install

because at this time, there was no official Build available and Ms didn't want us to know which Build they are running at this time

5241 was the CTP Microsoft "released" in July 2007, the beta 1 was build 5112. The buildnumber of it has to be lower.
