Disable driver signing

Post by ___ »

Is there any way to disable driver signing in x64 vista at the moment? besides pressing f8 at boot. or editing the boot options to automaticly select the f8 option?

It's permanently enabled in the x64 Vista kernel (another way for MS to extort money from driver makers). There are a few cracks that disable it (exploiting vulnerable signed drivers, IIRC).

I would argue its a way for MS to kill indie driver developers and hackers...

<raving>
You could write a directx 10 driver/wrapper for older Nvidia and especially ATI cards, all that you would need is to handel the equivilent calls (or just not do anything if the funcionallity is missing). Yet with these driver signatures its very difficult to distribute such a driver because if you graphics card fails the driver compatibilty...

Here is how to do it...

Have you installed the latest patches from Windows Update? I saw somewhere that one of those two big updates that fixed some of the issues with Vista broke the cracks for driver signing.
