But why has Windows NT / 2000 - build 21xx and this has 5000

Neptune build numbers are in the 5xxxx range although it's based on Windows 2000. Only MS knows why.

It's a fake.
Looking at the file with PE Explorer reveals the files time date stamp as
08/12/1999 . 20:38:02 , exactly the same as the setup.exe in build 5111.

But why should somebody (assuming this was the real setup.exe of build 5000) modify the time/date stamp to reflect that of 5111? That doesn't make sense to me, therefore I agree it's fake.

I've seen this file months ago already. It was a well known fake on one of the beta forums that some guy posted with a "supposedly" Blackcomb's setup.exe.
I don't think it's worth to discuss anymore.

EXEs and DLLs could be easily edited by resources editor or hex editors
I can problary make any build of setep.exe
Next time if someone sees something like this, it's is likely to be fake.
