I was just wondering something, I don't know wether I have been told right or not, but here goes;

Somebody told me that the betas of Windows 98 didn't expire until early 2001. Why? All through 1998, 1999 and 2000, many people would of already have got a retail/OEM RTM versions, so why did Microsoft set the timebomb in the Windows 98 betas to go off as late as 2001?

Actually only 400GB.

Or more if you also collect multilanguage, and RTM's, I have 683GB of Beta Software/RTM Software/ and also various tools and other applications for VMWare/Virtual PC.
And it's more or less complete of what it is available on Microsoft OS/Office

Why is it say for example the betas of Vista, they expire a few months after the RTM version is out, instead of expiring immediately a week after the RTM version is out?

To give people a grace period of continuing to use the beta until they buy the RTM. As to why they chose a specific date, you'll need to ask MS. There's nothing we can do but speculate.

Also, when they are at the beta stage, how can they know when the RTM is out?
