The site posted above is DOSBox running it in Javascript.

If it doesn't run, there's always http://charlie.bz - which starts up a remote QEMU session for each user and connects to it using a HTML5-based VNC client. I used to run something similar, but it allowed the user to select every Windows version up to XP, DOS, or ReactOS. Worked nicely but I couldn't keep it running due to network bandwidth.

There's also http://oldweb.today - doesn't work in Chrome though. This is linked to archive.org, not the real web. Annoyingly the Windows-based browsers are actually running through WINE, but it allows you full access to the Mac-based hosts.

Then, of course, there's PC.js - http://www.pcjs.org/ - which appears now to have added Windows 95 floppies. though I've yet to find a way to boot them, archive.org itself - https://archive.org/details/win3_stock, and loads more. Take a look at http://virtuallyfun.superglobalmegacorp.com/ which occasionally links to some, and used to - I'm not sure if it still does - host some Windows 3.1 OEM images in JDOSBox (yep, Java) that also run in your browser.

Still, you'd be much better off just grabbing PCEM or something - browser emulation is never a great experience.

Works fine in Chrome for me. What error (if any) do you get?

BTW, Jeff just added savestates to PCjs, so it'll be even easier to embed complete installations in a single file and run them from a website. Cool stuff!

Mouse cursor issues (as in no control, though keyboard works) though this was on a school PC with outdated Chrome so that's probably why. However, NoVNC also had similar issues on my home laptop though which is strange.

Nice to hear about PCjs. I had it running Win95 earlier which worked well.

PCjs' timing is too inaccurate. I'll take PCem-X, thank you very much.

It's OK for normal use though. Admittedly JavaScript isn't the best language for emulation, but it is a very nice site nonetheless.

I wonder when the WinWorld online VMs will ever be released
