Hey BetaArchive! Look what I found in Windows 95B's iso!

Image

It looks similar to Chicago's boot screen, but it's Microsoft Games.

Do you know what this could have been? A leftover from 95's beta?

Thanks for reading!

With that lens flare, that definitely looks like a Chicago esque bootup screen. I would guess the chances of it being a "leftover" scrap of software from Chicago are slim, since you didn't find it in the original retail version of WIndows 95, you found it in the second revision. I'm sure by the time Microsoft released the second revision, they would've found any "leftovers" and removed them. But who knows, perhaps some sneaky Microsoft progrmmer snuck this image in when they were compiling 95B...

I'll do some research, see if I can find anything about a Microsoft Games program for Windows 95. Maybe it would have been a UI that organizes the software classified as "games" installed on the computer, like an early Activity Center-like concept. Or maybe it had something to do with the MSN Gaming Zone (at the time I believe it was called the Internet Gaming Zone)?

EDIT: Which directory was it stored in? Was it hidden inside of an archive? Great find, by the way!!!

OSR2: is any of the Win95B/C/D stuff. I found mine in that directory of the 2.5 version.
