Another Windows 98 SP1 Beta

Post by Zheng He »

Another Windows 98 SP1 beta, build 4.10.2091. Screenshot was found in a chatroom. [SCREENSHOT ONLY]

Seems interesting... Maybe you can compare it with 4.10.2088, which is also a Windows 98 SP1 beta build.

By the way, if you have 98 SP1 build 2017, it would be greatly appreciated if you share it!

Yes, comparing it to 2088, it seems legit.

BTW, 2017 is not an SP1 beta. It was an 'Multimedia Update for Windows 98'. If you applied it to 1998, (the FE RTM build) you would get build... 1998 with a few files with the version number '4.10.2017'. It's not 2017 in the true sense.

But I saw the screenshots on TCB, and there was non-disclosure agreement in the EULA.

If you had seen the rest of the screenshots, the System Properties say:

Microsoft Windows 98
4.10.1998 Multimedia Update

If it really was 2017, it would have said:

Microsoft Windows 98
4.10.2017

I have found a reference to build 2085 in a newsgroup discussion that has since been moved over to Google Groups:

Could this be another build of Windows 98 SP1? I want it... too bad it isn't leaked (yet) :(
