I saw a screenshot of this build here:

Is this real?

im not sure, it looks relatively convincing in its basic ideas, but it looks like a later build, with a slightly adjusted taskbar. i personally feel its a well done fake. its taskbar is the main feature, which i would say is closer to being finished than the one in build 58.

58 has the opened tasks positioned above the taskbar not within it.

Why would Microsoft do this with build 38, then place them on top with
later builds, then put it back in later on again. :?

@ Xammer , might I ask where you found this screenshot

I would also say this is a fake. But I guess noone can confirm or deny it for sure.

Reading this thread you linked to reveals that this is again a discussion/argument between unblestone and "Ken0" (KenOath?). Please don't bring this up again. Knowing this, I'd say this build is definately fake.

So it is forbidden to talk about an argument between unblestone and KenOath. I don't know anything about it, but I won't talk.

The argument was never really resolved and we would rather it stayed that way than to try and argue it again. Anyway, back on topic please.

No, it's not forbidden, of course not. But the problem is we haven't been able to find out what's actually going on there, we only know it's something very, very nasty and due to this, I dare doubt the authenticity of this build.

Seems we all missed the fact to proving it's a fake.
The link posted above by Xammer led to a post made by the
person posting the screen shot, what the braniac forgot about
was the fact that he also has a signature "link" which lists all known
early betas of windows95, and guess what, build 38 isn't in the list.
Oops, smart guy that one! :?

The link Windows 95 Pre-Release Checklist

Well, given that the screenshot comes from a known member to whom telling the truth doesn't seem to be that important, that is no surprise.

I hope everyone is okay with me closing this topic now.
