If this is true then grab them right away so they don't get lost. Have you got any idea what the build numbers are? We may already have them.

I haven't seen any Detroit beta yet and it was said, at least AFAIK, that these Detroit betas don't (and have never) exist(ed). If there are some we haven't heard of it'll surely be great to have them :)

Huh? What? Of course they did exist. A Slovenian magazine, either WIN.INI, or PC&Mediji, even had a screenshot of Detroit, showing one of its unique feature - a 3-D tri-sided prismatic taskbar, which was, as we all know from Memphis and Windows 98, later dropped. ;)

We can be pretty sure that no build of Odyssey was ever compiled, so that seems unlikely.

Aside from lack of direct information on whether it exists or not, Microsoft documents do state that Odyssey was being developed alongside Neptune.

Hell, what exactly was Odyssey? Was it the original codename for the nt 5.1 kernel, which was merged with neptune to form whistler, or was it a precursor to nt 6.0's kernel? Is there any documentation to support any real theories?

Odyssey.. would be really interesting .. if it exists. :P

1 question: why would they allow it to be leaked?

Microsoft doesn't want any of these 'technology' alphas/beta's to be released, because they contain technologies that may or may not be implemented in current releases of Windows. Essentially, if this whole thread is true, then the Cousin of the OP has probably violated an NDA that he signed, just by telling the OP that he can get these items, as they're hosted internally on MS servers.

Perhaps Detroit has technologies that are part of the CAIRO vision, which has still not yet been fully implemented. Perhaps Detroit has a few other tricks that have yet to be re-implemented. These are all speculative reasons for the reason why MS has these things on their internal network, available to download.
