NT Server 3.51 and NT Server 4.00. BTW, you forgot some, like NT 4.0 Server EE and IIRC there is no NT 3.1 Server, there's just NT 3.1 ("Workstation") and NT Advanced Server 3.1.

I like more of these OSs: Windows NT Workstation and Server, versions 3.51 and 4.0, and Windows NT Server, Enterprise Edition 4.0.

Of those choices NT4 Workstation is the best. Why?

-It had the nicest login screen (The Window Logo in the Clouds)
-Fast, not bloated (it wasn't even bloated back when it came out)
-The best Startup/Shutdown sound ever! (even though it was a bit long)

Too bad it doesn't have DirectX9 if it did, I would really use it as my workstation.

The highest version of DirectX for Windows NT 4.0 is DirectX 7.0 I think. On this Windows run Quake III Need for speed Porsche and etc.

I'm pretty sure NT4 only goes up to DirectX 3 with parts of 7 in it. So therefore gaming is very limited.

I like NT4 Server the most because it has everything Workstation has (okay, WKS' login screen is indeed nicer) plus all the additional server stuff and tools. Regarding DirectX, I know there's 5.0 for NT4, but I don't know anything about 7.0. I wouldn't use NT4 for gaming, one reason being that I very rarely game, if at all, so this is irrelevant for me.

NT wasen't designed for games, but NT4 was also my favourite NT Operating System. At work, will still use WinNT4 on an PIV 3Ghz to manage account, they didn't bye new license, it works, they have just changed the hardware.

That is something I really really miss in more modern non server Windows versions. Just look at Vista... :|

HERE'S a download for directX 5 for NT4...
Not sure from where, but I was also of the opinion that there was a
patched directx 7 for NT, may even have it buried in the backups
somewhere...

Fully agreed. That's the reason why I generally prefer the server editions, be it NT 5.0 aka 2000 (but I have to say that 2000 Pro is not too bad in this concern, XP is much worse), Whistler (erm, XP/Server 2003) or Longhorn Server....

The Ephemeral between existance and non-existance: AKA "being"

Favourite OS
Rhapsody, BeOS
I think the cause of MS server OSs being better is the highly competive field that the server OS field is.

Microsoft faces very little competition for the home market, while in the server market it does not have a majority of the market. Therfore the OS MS releases for servers must be of very high quality - and as some have seen, of high price :D

(except for ghost servers :) )
