I'm pretty sure that it somehow got hacked, due the $ replacing the s at problem, but since no other "S"s are replaced, I can't be sure.

It looks like the system tried to boot up but then the processor overheated causing some sort of corruption. The same thing happened to the BIOS on an old Duron system I removed the heat sink on... 8-) Yeah dumb idea I know, but this was about 4 years ago :P

I forget the whole story but there is a bit failure somewhere. You can tell that all incorrect letters are 8 letters off from where they should be, which means the 4th bit in some hardware device failed.

Looks like it's a bad overclock.
I tried to OC a Duron 799 MHz to 1GHz, ended up making randomly-colored text before boot. Only sound you could hear was tooooot-tooot-toot.

Had a lot of fun with that, checking how big OC I can get with ~5 year old hardware.

Was the CPU the able to heat your house?
Worked with my old Duron

No, it was a el cheapo Duron (redundancy, LOL), but when I tried that with my P4, it was able to heat my room. Not that I'd do that, it's quite hot here in the tropics.

Yeah, I've seen this before. You'll notice that each out of place letter is offset by the same number of spots on the ASCII 'chart'. This is data corruption at it simplest. Probably just bad memory or the CPU can't take the heat.

You can do this using Acronis Disk Editor.
