I am currently running windows neptune on my compaq deskpro sbm but every time i insert a usb and try to move or delete files it comes up with a usb/hardware failure error box and every time i close it it keeps on nagging me with more errors for about a minute. Could someone please help me.

1) What kind of USB are you using?
1a) 1.0, 1.1, 2.0?
2) Do you also have this problem if you are using another USB port?
3) Do you also have this problem if you are using Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP?

Neptune is in the early support of USB drives.
So 1.0 works, 1.1/2.0 maybe.

I have the same problem on a pentium3 machine
with Neptune and Win 98, where I brought a new usb 2.0 card inside.

Is there a way to ubdate the USB support in Windows Neptune ?

I have usb 2.0 ports (not 2.0 express) and all usbs have worked on 98, 2000 and xp without fail. I got the drivers for my imation swivel pro usb off the site but they were only for 98. I tried installing them and it worked but it still gave me errors.

Try this, it's unofficial USB driver for Win98/98 SE but it worked on neptune for me. Just hit "Ignore" on any warnings saying they're not signed, not compatible, not for neptune, etc.

This should work.
I tried that once and Neptune accepted the newer drivers and therefore USB problems were gone.

I have the exact same problem with my flash drive, but I have tried everything mentioned in here, and nothing seems to work. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Did you update all the system files with the newest versions from Windows 2000?
