Mac OS X 10.5.8
I think you can install Kalyway or iDeneb on any PC or laptop which have an Intel or AMD Processor with SSE3/SSE4 instructions support.

But if you want to install original Mac OS X you need a copmuter with new Intel Processor. E.g. Core/Core 2 series. But I know person who installed Mac OS X 10.5.4 on a computer with Intel Pentium 4.

Aspire 5315 would run it fine (ish) with a few small nags. Not the best to run os x from but it will do it

i was just about to mention this. really nice laptops and i DID find an importer willing to purchase and send me one for a small fee....but then i found the OCZ barebones and fell in love.. (http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/diy_notebooks/ocz_diy_15-gaming_notebook-small-intel-nvidia_edition) having seen this and finding one for well under rrp, USD $460, i have taken my focus away from running osx. originally i was just being too cheap to buy a macbook.

my current laptop which is a hp dv6700 t8300 runs osx flawlessly but its an overheating piece of **** (among other problems) and i just want to break it with a sledgehammer.

thank you everyone for your answers.

I've heard very good things about the Kalyway disc.

Like the fact that it's outdated. Seriously, anyone who wants to install Mac OS X on a non-Apple computer should use a more up-to-date version. iDeneb and iPC have excellent support and can be found for Mac OS X 10.5.6 (the latest is 10.5.7). I believe iDeneb has a 10.5.7 install though.

Any of the recent netbooks make a good candidate. Their chipsets (usually a 945GSE) are well supported by OS X. Plus they have Intel processors, etc. The only things that may not work are the SD card slots and/or the webcam.

I've installed it on an eeepc 701, pretty much everything works except the wifi (and that's being worked on). Ran off an 8GB SD card in the built-in reader without a problem. Surprisingly speedy for a 630MHz Celeron, 512MB RAM and a GMA915.

Hmm I might put iDeneb on my desktop when it comes, but when apple releases 10.5.8 will installing it, break the setup?

Possibly, but if you can use the vanilla kernel and EFI emulation, you'll stand less chance of having a broken OS when you update. Best policy for OSX86 is to check threads referring to that specific release (insanelymac should help you there).
