Hi guys

Im looking for an original PS to play backups and my old PS games on.

Luckily, I found this place that sells random stuff. The guys got about 50 of 'em. And there dirt cheap. I already got a Gameshark for the swap trick.

What I want to know is if there are any models I should be on the lookout for and ones I should steer clear of.

Or in simple terms: Which version of PS is the best?

In terms of best, I would suggest you avoid the PSone, its smaller than the PSX but has protection against the modchip. If you want to do the swap trick, get the SCPH-3000 or SCPH-100X models.

If you look for one of the older models not the PSOne but the original thick PS you can just get an adapter that plugs into the serial port in the back that allows you to play backups. That's a lot easier than using a modchip.

Also, it's not exactly a serial port but you'll know it when you see it.

I recommend an SCPH-900X model, they have good CD drives compared to the others (from experience. Own SCPH-9001 and 9002.)

Also newer ones are faster. It means the difference between sitting at the SCE screen for 5 seconds and 15 seconds while loading a game.
