Often when games freeze totally so that even ctrl+alt+delete doesnt work anymore, the sound of the game goes on. In GTA for example, you still hear the radio and people talking.

My question now: Why? When noting works anymore, why and how does the sound go on?

Because it is only the video driver/card that is "locked up". The rest of the system is fine, except you can't see it happening, for obvious reasons.

Thats interesting, so the "Security Screen" when pressing CTRL+Alt+Delete is there, I just cant see it because my video card is locked up?
