I run Windows 7 7201 on my laptop (Acer), as the main/only OS. Bad idea, I know, but lately, Windows 7 runs fast. But today, its starting to crawl. I would load up Outlook 2007 to check my email, and it takes forever to load, and then it locks up when I try to read an email. Ugh, ok, so I load up Steam and try to play Garry's Mod. I start playing and the FPS goes from 59 or 60, to 19 and 20, Instantly! I close down Steam and I load up uTorrent and decide to finish a torrent. uTorrent doesnt load, try several times, no avail. So I just load up WLM, took 20 tries to get it loaded. Why is Windows 7 lagging so badly?

This happen to me too when I was using 7201. When I copy a file, it will say Windows Explorer is not responding for about 30 second. When I play a game, it would go ag,ag,ag. Reformat didn't help. The problem seem to be gone after i upgrade to build 7229.

It could be the search indexer, so you could try disabling the service for that. I always do, I mean I keep things organised so its very very rare I ever use search anyway. Also check task manager and see what is using the CPU and check if you HD light is flashing/staying on a lot when its running slowly.

Thanks for the tips, I'll look at them, and I really want to upgrade to a newer build soon :)
