Had hmail server running on our server for a week or so now, no problems

Today I get a lot of mail returned "550 : invalid hello command / spamming is not allowed"

So logged into the server, and the hmailserver application won't open with the error "invalid picture"

Have googled, and found nothing of relevance.

Seemed to be because firezilla server wasn't running :/

Working again now. Don't know if we'll have issues still returned mail though

HELO is a spam prevention technique (explained in the hMailServer manual), and has nothing to do with filezilla. Returned mail is returned because the spammer spoofed the return address to one that doesn't exist, so when hMailServer replies that its been caught as spam and won't be delivered, its being bounced, and you get the bounces to the main inbox of that domain. Now the spamming has stopped, you've stopped getting those bounce messages. Again, nothing to do with filezilla, just coincidence.

No, if i stop firezilla on the server, Hmailserver administration panel won't open.

if firezilla is running, it opens fine.

Still getting ALL our outgoing emails bounced back at us....

Huh? That's strange, since Filezilla has nothing to do with hMailServer! If all your mail is being returned then you probably have a configuration error. Go to http://www.abyssunderground.co.uk/insta ... server.php and follow that for setting up, make sure you have all the options checked that the tutorial tells you to. It took me a year of tweaking to get mine working properly, so I put that tutorial up there for people to avoid that problem.

The hMailServer admin panel does take a few seconds to open on my server (upto 15 seconds before getting a login box) so don't worry about that. Filezilla has nothing to do with it, believe me! Its an FTP server, nothing more.

I know firezilla should have nothing to do with it at all!

However if I stop the filezilla daemon, and try to open hmailserver admin panel i get a popup error saying "invalid picture"...then nothing.

I have stopped and started filezilla again and again and it really does seem to be related.

I'm completely confused! :(
