In short, the battery in the acer is, well.. knackered.

I'm looking for a replacement for it, and I don't want to fork out loads for one unforuntately.

Any suggestions?

get yourself one off eBay, you can usually find replacements for about 1\3rd the price of one that Acer will sell...
If you don't find one for cheap, a big-name battery store _should_ be able to rebuild it, but it will cost some $$

My advice is avoid cheap replacements. Why? Because I had a bad experience with one. It would run down no problem, but wouldn't charge up. The seller said it was fine and my laptop was to blame, however my original battery, although worn, would charge no problem at all and give me 30 minutes of life again. The new battery wouldn't charge AT ALL. It took a PayPal dispute to get him to refund the cost, except it put me £15 out of pocket for postage to/from me. In the end I gave up and bought an external battery pack with universal connectors. That cost me £80. The battery cost £40. A battery from Acer was £115. Do the math :)

Just my 2p...

In my experience as well, not even exclusively with laptops, cheap third-party replacement batteries don't work nearly as well as the expensive ones. I have had good experiences with replacement Energizer batteries.

Battery on the 5315 is awful anyway, less than 2 hours brand new.

PS Rioter has your power pack broken recently? Probably going to have to send mine in on warranty as a wire has shorted so laptop wont charge.

C2D is definitely more efficient than a Celeron, but in terms of battery life you won't notice that big a difference, 20 minutes maybe?

I "broke" my Dell battery into finally giving me about an hour before it decides to die with 15000mWh left... not bad seeing as it is fully charged when it hist 7%
I had a contact somewhere who showed me a way to hack open this battery and allow me to add and replace cells as needed until it came up with the 745000mWh that the onboard chip says it hat... I wonder how many days that would add... and the size it would add....

Not to be rude, but when did this topic become "How long does your laptop/netbook battery last?" (in which I moreorless loathe those topics). :/

I do have a unused battery I can give you, its for a 5735Z though. It has a 18% charge atm, and is currently sitting in my fridge (its a spare, and Andy recommended I do that)

Anybody have half depleted toshiba batteries and are willing to give away?

All I need is for at least 10 mins of battery life to give me time to shut down when power goes out

Image removed. Read the rules.

Achtung!
When you have a trip to China, Don't buy batteries at will, such as some mobile stall of one informal market. Those batteries often results in a BANG! :)
