Which one is better? the 30th anniversary or the original

I got to decide which one to buy.

I got an original '75 Wish You Were Here, and I must have more.

The work done on remastering Pink Floyd is really great, so I'd get the anniversary edition for listening pleasure. Get the original (vinyl, of course) release for collection purposes though ;)

I have the live "Pulse" recording and alot of their songs actually sound BETTER live. I was pretty shocked.

I just discovered Dub Side of the Moon, the dub/reggae cover by the Easy Star All-Stars; I'm enjoying it. They stay, for the most part, true to the original music and they covered the entire album.

I like the original Parsons quad mix, but I very rarely get a chance to listen to it on a decent setup. I wish I had those surround headphones.

First off, Pulse == awesome show for a DVD release.

Second, Go orignal if you don't have at least a 5.1 setup. the 30th is a Super Audio CD that has additional tracks for 5.1 surround setups. It sucked on surround headphones but those are for people without a clue. However, on my bose + design accustics (yeah, old, were used like twice before i got them) it is one dope remastering. For example, Time has each clock on a different speaker, freaky but cool in it's own way.

There is something to be said for getting surround mixes and playing them on 2.0 hardware, the increased dynamic range and ambiance is often worth it for the extra processing power required.

SACD versions require specialized hardware to play though, so they're a bit different.

Vinyl sounds better, I don't actually like CDs at all.

And make sure you've got either a diamond stylus or a ruby one; they're the best. I used ruby on my deck.
