I just seemed to stumble on this and am not sure if it is coincidence or what but
after trying for a long while to download from the Microsoft server 7100
through the Chrome browser I was just getting the green circle spinning in the middle of
the screen. This went on for some time, I just assumed because it was due to server
overload. I then decided to try the download in IE and guess what boom almost right
away the download began and it is downloading at a nice pace as well. I gues MS
maybe gives preference to IE users, not sure.

I could be wrong, but I doubt that, with the immense traffic MS have at the moment with downloads, that they are monitoring Browser specific useage. It was probably a coincidence. If you had stopped and restarted, with chrome or whatever, you may have had the same experience.

Its browser specific, I just tried several times, the download page only appears to work in IE (Or IE tab in firefox) I've had the same problem before trying to load the Microsoft Live Chat page (for MS Connect Chats) it gives the exact same thing unless you are using "IE"

For me, it worked with Firefox's normal tab (full screen java applet was there). (I have disabled IE in control panel and have no IE tab installed).
Downloaded both x86 and x64 with my FF and had no problems. Also, it downloaded with average 990kb/s.
So I think there's something else wrong or it is just a coincidence. But the webserver part was slow, I had to refresh several times to get to page where I could click "download".

Chrome always seems to get stuck on Microsoft sites for me, Firefox and IE work fine though.

Chrome is indeed usually pretty bad with Microsoft sites. Just try the new-style hotmail with it and you'll see. You can't even get it to display an email most of the time due to what looks like javascript not working correctly for it.

I would prefer p2p site for faster download speed.
Downloading from official Microsoft server is too slow.

Microsoft servers sure are not slow, when I download from their MSDN repositories I get up to about 100MB/s (yes, megaBYTE/s). But it all depends on where you live and how the routing is configured from your ISP to Microsoft. So p2p might be a better solution for you if you get too slow speeds.
