Hi all,

I tried several times to install Windows 7 on my computer. Everything is going fine, butt in the phase of 'Completing installation' , I get a BSOD with some message I couldn't read (the computer reboots very quick after that), but there is a problem with atikmdag.sys. I googled it and found some solutions (installing clean Vista, then use a fix and install Windows 7), and that the problem is an ATi driver.

But, is this going to be fixed? I tried Windows 7 Build 7068, 7077 and 7100, but no one worked. It will be quite a problem if several people around the world stuck at the installation of Windows 7, when it's on the market...

Mark

Remove the graphics driver from the disk and install it from online after you are done installing Windows 7?

I don't think the disk include graphic driver.

Also, try updating your bios, it may or may not help.

There is no graphics driver, because it is a empty disk ;).

I had problems with Vista (Windows 7 I didn't have then), my Gigabyte motherboard and my NVidea 8800GT.
It would install and run, but trying to run graphics intens applications then it would BSOD.

I found out that it was an BIOS compatible error, so I upgraded to the latest BIOS then (F7, now F8 is out), but now it's working great and no BSOD anymore.

It can solve it.

But please be carefull, if the computer is still under warrenty let it do by the computershop where you have bought it.
If the BIOS is flashed wrong or you put on the wrong BIOS, the motherboard can go into the trash and you can order a new one.

What I was getting at was removing atikmdag.sys if it is the problem.
