What kind of trials would you be talking about?

Who knows, trial of Windows Server 2003 and Server 2008 perhaps.

Microsoft used to offer trial of Windows Server 2003 but I guess they replaced that with trial of Server 2008.

There is no point when they can be downloaded directly from Microsoft, they just take up unnecessary space which we can't really spare. And, Microsoft servers are just as fast as BA, so there is little point mirroring it for speed purposes.

Actually, from experience, Microsoft Server are WAY faster than the BA ones.

I usually get about 3 mb on MS but on BA only about 300kb

MSDN and Technet are usually 10 mb

I think thats more to do with your location though.
I get about 800KB/s max from both using my Home Connection.

Location will always have an effect on speed. Its to do with the TCP window size and latency. The higher the latency the slower the overall speed will be per thread. Obviously the routing and congestion can affect it too along the way.

I usually max out the speed on BA and Microsoft Technet.

Both are on 1.8MB/s

The only trials that should go up (in my humble opinion) are for abandonware software that doesn't exist in any other form.

Or add the trials if they are no longer available on any servers.

If they got deleted from the server at the company, they are generally available from other servers, and then after a while the links are dead and it off the web.
Then you can still get them here (if they are here).

I get where Rob is coming from (Server 2003 is a perfect example of what he means) but hosting Microsoft trials is a violation of the EULA, and thus, illegal.

I really hate to disappoint you, but beta's are falling under that catagory also.

Also, Trials are FULL software but with timebomb and you can download server 2003 full from everywhere on the web.

(Though Server 2003 R2 is still available as trial).

I know betas (& Alphas) are illegal, they all come with similar EULA's, but you gotta draw the line somewhere, otherwise BA becomes a warez site.

betas and trials both need keys and both have timebombs. The only difference I see is that one is for trying to get people to like the product and the other for trying to get the bugs out of a product.

Personally I believe it would be pointless to upload trials, but that it is just as "legal" as uploading betas.

Trials should not be kept if the full version is available. Seriously, why would you want them? They're practically identical to the full version, with maybe a few files changed and a timebomb.
