Hi, last Sunday, my Bluehost webhosting account was suspended and from the email they replied to me, they said that Internet Explorer 7.0 installer is violating their Terms of Services. My question is, does hosting freeware like that really violates ToS? The filename in question is IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe.

:?

Anything that holds a copyright and especially by Microsoft is bound to be flagged. I'd remove it and keep it that way, hosts like that always hate such files. Just look at the wasted hosting with Servage I had even though they said I could host those files on it...

I see, what's enraged me was Bluehost also ask me to remove ANY RAR, TAR, ZIP files. What's with that? 300GB for what? :x

It may not be a legality question - some hosts do not allow you to run file repositories.
OR
some hosts do not allow you to host other peoples content - even in cases where it is legal (or trivial) to do so

Aha.
Ahaha.
Ahahaha!

Seriously though, Bluehost suck, they dont even offer "unlimited" whatever. Just get a new host. They blacklisted some of my IP's for "abuse" when I've done nothing.

edit: they give each user like, 15GB. Look at one of their servers, you'll see how little space they have - http://www.hypnosnet.org/index.php?page=info

I think the issue is that space being reported is for everyone - so it wouldn't take many people using their full allocation to max out that space...

they have about 9TB free space, If each person gets 300GB, 30ish people would be able to fill it easy...

Oh, I can't distinguish which one belongs to who in the mounted filesystem info... But I do know Bluehost said I'll get 300gb of spaces and 300gb of bandwidth! :x

Yeah, that space is shared out with everyone. The person who owns the website I linked to only gets like 15GB space/bw anyway.

box33.bluehost.com (the last box the site was on) had like 2TB total space.

edit: thinking about it box508 only has ~4TB, the rest are other servers (note IP's)

Long story short, change hosts

Mike [3:34:43 AM]: Yes.
[3:34:52 AM]: It would need to be done through our Billing department

So what's hosting you suggest I changed to? Lots of bandwidth, not really small spaces and what's more, I can host anything :P

Use Streamline!

I've got an unlimited deal with them, for my website and my forum.

I still want to home-host, though...
