I was actually thinking about http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6836110030 thoughbut i figure something has to be wrong if its that cheap.

The reviews on that page don't look promising either:
Quote:
Cons: Cheap sound. Distorts at higher volume. Have to crank 5.1 surround sound movies in order to hear them. Batteries fried in the remote control. After 4 months of ownership, one of the front speakers began to give a very awful sound like tin foil getting crunched. Moved this to the rear and still hear it every now and then.

Other Thoughts: Cheap isn't worth the price if you're really looking for a little bang for your buck. Better off with Logitech or Creative speakers around this same price range. You won't be able to setup the speakers at lengths of your choosing but you'll appreciate the quality much more!

The genuis ones are deactivated. A proper set of basic 5.1 speakers would be these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121006 They are logitech's as logitech is the brand that alot of gamers use and those wanting a good pair of cheap speakers because of the good quality for the cost.

I wouldn't reccomend them for that reason, but a good pair of headphones would be more considerate of those in your household who don't share your taste in music/movies.
I'd reccoment these, got a pair for Christmas a few years back, great headphones, longest I've ever owned one pair...
