Is it legal to upload videos of windows builds? So not just an image, but a video. I want to do that from the windows history, because I see that there are only movies on youtube with pictures.

So is it legal to upload movies with Windows OS screencaptures?

Its not illegal, its just pointless doing screenshot videos on youtube because the quality is so poor. You can't see the detail that is supposed to be portrayed in the video.

It could be considered illegal if the videos are of pre-release software:
Quote:
10. CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION. The software, including its user interface, features and documentation, is confidential and proprietary to Microsoft and its suppliers.
a. Use. For two years after installation of the software or its commercial release, whichever is first, you may not disclose confidential information to third parties. You may disclose confidential information to third parties only if you obtain prior written consent from Microsoft’s legal department. You may contact them at oseula@microsoft.com. You may disclose confidential information only to your employees and subcontractors who need to know such information. You must have written agreements with them that protect the confidential information at least as much as this agreement.
Though I doubt at this stage, with images of Windows 7 plastered all over the internet that MS would care.
Hell, they probably want people stirring up hype about Windows 7 now.

As said above no just the quality is so bad you can't see anything. Though with the new Youtube HD it will probably work fine.

I think this is dropped anyway after the first leak - so it's only illegitimate if you're the first person to break the Confidential Information part. After that, the details are in the Public domain and it's perfectly acceptable. At least that's what I understand.
