Hi!

I've Windows 7 build 7000 installed after I formatted my hard drive. But I dont have the new bootscreen of Windows 7. I still got the old Vista bootscreen. Does someone has the same problem? And how can it be solved?

Here are my specs:

  • Asus P5N64 WS PRO EPU 790i SLI, SATA2 RAID, SAS
  • Gigabyte Videocard PCI-e GeForce 9800GX2 1GB 2xDVI/HDCP
  • Intel Core 2 Extr. QX9650 3.00GHz FSB1333 Box
  • Kingston 4GB DDR3 SDRAM PC8500 CL7.0

Tnx for any help!

This can happen if the resolution before the boot cannot be at 1024x786, then it will use the Vista bootscreen because it's 640x480.

This will happen is Windows 7 doesn't recognise you're graphics card.
Sadly I do not know a solution.

The TV (monitor) is not correctly recognised, that's why it's in 640x480 and not the other, that one is recognised as a computer monitor and that will show the new bootscreen.

Sadly the only solution is that you use the other monitor if you want to bootscreen to look like the new one, otherwise if you really want to use that TV monitor then you are stuck with the vista bootscreen.

But the bootscreen is in 1024x786, I think that the bootscreen cannot fit on a widescreen, and 640x480 adjusts.
But maybe because with that bootscreen you need 4:3 and not widescreen.

Then I dont know why.
Does it also does with other Windows 7 Versions? (I mean 6801, 6936, 6956)?
But from this point on for me it's only guessing now.

If you were previously running an older build, or manually changed the bootcode somehow, it might have changed BOOTMGR so that it wouldn't show the new boot screen. Try these commands from an admin command prompt and reboot:

Code:
bcdedit /set {current} inherit {bootloadersettings}
bcdedit /set {current} locale en-US

does the nx option of your current OS in the Bootloader have the value "OptIn"?

If not, run
Code:
bcdedit /set {current} nx OptIn

in cmd as Admin

It has no problems on my laptop's screen (1280*800).

I reckon it should be scalable to the native display resolution - and that it should give an option to see the details (like in Linux, "press F1 for details").

The new bootscreen runs fine on widescreen, I was also able to get it at 1440x900.

Something strange has happened today.
All the computer where I use this disk in are EXACTLY the same, but on 1 PC I get the old Vista bootscreen and on all the others I get the new bootscreen.

But it doesn't matter anyways, this build is good and haven't crashed on me yet.

Maybe it's because it cannot verify bootres.dll properly so it does a fallback.
