I just attempted to upload a screenshot of NT5 1729's desktop & got a
heap of errors, although it seemed to have worked..
I copied the link shown at the bottom of the page here, but no-go.
I think it has a problem with image size..

The error...

@Luckie:
What editor?

@KenOath:
It doesnt work in IE, it says on the page. Still can't find out why.
Edit: Its fixed for IE now, try again! Stupid MIME-Types :?

@Pr0gram the pr0grammer@
It must all be on one line, no line returns must be put in.
Edit: Hmm, it doesnt seem to like spaces in the filename. Ill sort that out soon.

I'm trying to work out where it says it doesn't work in IE..
It doesn't say it on the error screenie I pasted above,
I just had a quick look again on the Forum Image Upload link
from above & can't see where it says it doesn't work in IE
there either..
Where does it say that.? which page do you mean.
My error shot above says it's not a valid image resource, is that
what that refers too.?

EDIT: It doesn't like PNG's , it just gave the same error again, so I
opened the bitmap again & this time saved it as a JPEG & had another
go, & this time it worked perfect...

Image

This one also displays a little watermark on the bottom right corner for
a few seconds when 1st booting up, what I can't work out is why the
lanma256 says Beta 1, whilst the watermark says Beta 2...
This build must have been right on the changing point from Beta 1 to 2
I guess..

I never leave spaces in images as I've had other image & file hosting
sights error for the same reason, if I ever need to separate letters or
numbers, I do it with the underscore, as you'll see from the images
above if you hover your mouse over them & look in the title bar below
the browser, well in IE you'll see it, not sure about firefox..

As you say, it's better than the image hosting sights with popups &
whatnot, saves me having to upload it elsewhere...

Ive fixed the spaces problem. All spaces will now be replaced with underscores. I cant seem to find any issues with the PNG side of uploading though. Ill keep testing however.

EDIT: Ah, the PNG problem is on IE. Trying to fix now...

EDIT2: Fixed! Stupid MIME-types again. PNG is not image/png like FF, its image/x-png :?

It must be a bad image. Try uploading with another browser.

I updated some Neptune 5111 shots as there were very few there, &
figured seeing I'm playing with what looks like an un-modified copy of
it, you might like some shots with the desktop build showing, plus the
mention of the timebomb..
It kind of gives the shots that beta look having the desktop build &
timebomb showing..
Plus the logon screen is a peice of history to behold, I love it...
The problem I found { although not a problem to all } is the fact that I
chose the maximum resolution the video card supported, maintaining
32bit colours as I find I can fit more open windows within each shot..
The problem I have now is that I don't run big resolutions on my main
system, & when I click to view the pics I uploaded, I cant seem to scroll
to see all of the pics, even using the up/down/sideways keys to scroll..
Should there be a set resolution used to make the screenshots.?

How many shots is too much btw, I have another dozen or so if you'd
like them...

EDIT: worked it out, the page was that big that the top border was
dissappearing over past the top of the screen & didn't fit the top bar in
enough for me to see it & drag it down in order to scroll & see the whole
page..

Yes, but for the Itanium, as far as I know. There were rumours of a 64-bit Windows 2000 for the AMD64 (x86_64) CPUs (codenamed "Janus"), but I've never seen that one.

PS: That build string of Whistler you posted is just amazing! Do you happen to know of or have screenshots of any more 64-bit Whistler/.net builds? I'd like to see their build string...

No I don't have any screens of any, although I was sure I found proof of
another 64 bit build last year when I was researching whether any 64 bit
builds existed or not after finding a 64bit kit of some sort in amongst
the disks I have here, buggered if I can remember where it was though.
I can't imagine why someone would have covered the compile date in
that shot I found above though, seemed a little sus that someone would
want to cover it, but the shot looks real enough though..

Is that real? It looks kind of like a joke one, made in Paint!

Also, where did you get the NT4 style bootsplash for Whistler 64-bit Alpha? It's so cool and looks really realistic (I'm presuming it's not real!) - did you make it?

I am not really sure, but... there's one fact that makes me believe it's real. I had once installed a really early beta of Server 2003 x64, and the About Windows window showed a .NET Server 2003 logo (RC2 style!) with the letters "AMD 64" unprofessionally written on top of it, as if someone had made that in Paint! It as the real logo shown in that beta! I'll have a go installing it again in Qemu and show you it's real (the 2003 one).

No, it's not real, as there have never been any 64-bit Whistler builds for Alpha, let alone a Datacenter one. And if there were, they would have had another logo. I didn't make it myself, I found it somewhere, but forgot where and can't find it now...
