everytime i turn my monitor on it magically has a new verticle height! So i go into the monitor menu and move the projection down (i really hate my crt) and it works, until i restart 8o|. i have no clue why it is doing this but it is really getting annoying!

Does your monitor have a factory reset? I just got my hands on a Dell W1900, and had the same problem (the size wasn't scaling properly and part of the screen was cutting off) at native res, so I performed a factory reset on it, and now it works perfectly.
