Hi,

Is there any good and free alternative to UltraISO which can mount,
create and convert image files (especially .iso) ?

Thanks

Poweriso is great for that sort of thing, but the freeware version limits you to creating 300MB ISO's.

MagicISO is a great program as well, but it is not free + the trial can't handle ISOs more than 300MB...

If you want to mount files however, Daemon Tools Lite is a great program for that. I also heard Daemon Tools can create a ISO out of a CD(you probably need Pro Basic for that, don't worry it's free)

i think its if you have magic iso and power iso one cant burn and one cant create iso's larger than 300mb so if you use them right it works out (there basically the same)

There's a hidden MagicISO program - MagicDisk CD/DVD (Search it in google and it will appear)

This does a lot, not as much as it's paid for version though. It can mount and creates images. Doesn't burn images though

I have used the program a lot, and I haven't looked back. Brilliant little piece of freeware.

Both programs have the same 300MB restrictions.

Daemon tools is ok, but all it really does is mount images.
Back when I was into piracy (Yeah, I know, but its fun...) I used to use a combo of PowerISO (Cracked) Alchohol %120 (also cracked) and Nero (whatever the current version was at the time, cracked)
All three of those apps support burning various image formats, and the first two can create various image format files, and offer trials.

I've also had some pretty unpleasant experiences with MagicISO & UltraISO...

when i was into piracy (wait... i still am) i used a program called "virtual cd v9" because it was the only one to support an x64 system, i never used a keygen, just a timemachine app... that program will allow you to create, and mount a .iso by just rightclicking it.

i like to prowl the give away of the day site and get free giveaways, otherwise, you can try something like a playstation emulator cd drive plugin, they can rip an iso of many files, and they are usually free to use. (the one with psxe on ubuntu does it) and there are countless freeware iso moutning apps, that combo always worked for me.

Virtual CloneDrive is free and it will let you mount ISOs. ImgBurn will let you create ISOs from physical discs, virtual drives or from folders.

If you're looking for something that will convert between different image formats, I guess you can use Daemon Tools Lite (because it supports a bunch of them), mount the image and rip with ImgBurn.

In future focus on your spelling, please.

I use MagicISO myself. I personally believe it would be a struggle to find an equal freeware application; I'll watch this thread :)

MagicDisc + InfraRecorder. Both are freeware and together will do what you want.

I use Daemon Tools Lite to mount .iso, and ImgBurn to create and write isos to CD. Both are free.

Doesn't Ashampoo have an ISO creation utility? I swear I've seen it

I know that MagicISO is called a few times.

MagicISO is a really good application to create and edit .ISO-files. I am still using it since Feb. 2008 and it still rocks.

If your to lazy to search for the download: MagicISO

Seconding imgburn and Alcohol 52% for freeware.

If piracy is a moral option, or you know. you actually pay for things, then maybe Alcohol 120%. MagicISO is cool, and i have that installed, but it seems kinda quirky.

No one realized that the PowerISO trial let's you create from a disc, burn, and mount ISOs without any restrictions? It's when you're going to modify or convert them to a different format that you run into the 300MB limit. You can always try to use WinRAR to edit them.
