I went to update Firefox 3.1 nightly builds today and found they had moved on to Firefox 3.2 nightly builds. currently about:minefield says that it is gecko 1.9.2 and Firefox 3.2a1pre. it obviously still gets the same as the 3.1 betas on the acid 3 (93. Also the new tracemonkey engine is fully turned on by default (in 3.1 one of the about:config entries turned part off)

useful information for any nightly or beta tester of firefox:

to disable version checking for addons go to about:config and make a new boolean value called extensions.checkCompatibility and set ti to False. obviously some addons wont work but i am glad to report adblock plus, firegestures, and pagehacker all work - for me at least :P

use the spoofing addon on the addon site with the above modification to make sites think your using firefox 3.0 9very useful on picky sites)

that's about all i can think of but if you want to download it just go to this page unlike most beta or alpha staged programs minefield is usually relaly stable and i use it everyday.

Hmm, interesting post! I wasn't away there was going to be a Firefox 3.2, last time I checked the dev-branches were just 3.1 and 4.0 - I'll have to check it out :D

im actually sad to hear they are working on 3.2 now because that means the gecko engine wont pass the acid3 but the one in 3.2 will at least. after that they will begin making the acid4 test :D

Here's an example looking on the Archive site.
http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla. ... a-central/

The mozilla-central branch was producing nightly builds with version 4.0a1pre.

Now look at the current versions of the branch:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/ ... a-central/

They're now version 3.2a1pre.

actually that was before 3.0 even came out (june 08) so they actually made that when they where making Firefox 3 betas!

They've always done that, for the same reason why they were compiling 4.0 builds before 3.1 was even finished.... I know, I find it confusing too, at times. :?

i did the update of 3.2 pre and now it crashes every three seconds :(, of course i guess thats why its called minefield lol.

Being an Opera user, their schedule of releasing new Betas every 1-2 weeks works fine for me, I usually find Nightly builds a bit hard to keep up with :p

i love opera myself, have it and firefox, or should i say minefield, on every computer. i like minefield because it automatically updates to the nightly versions so you dont even have to think about it but chrome on the other hand wont and they make 20 builds a day sometime!

i find:
firefox is best for everyday browseing
opera is best for messing around with the latest and greatest javascript stuff
anything with webkit is kinda in the middle

I use Opera for everything, don't even have Firefox installed... Always found it to be overrated in all honesty
