On Sunday in work, we had a fault somewhere in the electrics and one of the breakers kept tripping at 47 minutes past every hour, when we turned it back on, the Lottery machine had of course gone off and was rebooting. I managed to grab a picture on my mobile. Very unusual to find it was running Linux! It uses Java as the platform for running the ticket machine side of things.

After the reboot, the system hadn't synced with the server yet and displayed a generic screen saver text. Once you log on the system, that updates when it connects and displays the lotteries quotes to remind you to put out the new scratch cards, etc.

Sorry about the bad quality, my mobile phone's camera sucks.

Oh and here is a nice picture of the till just after I took those two... Unaffected, as it ran from a UPS each time the breaker tripped. Yes, I have pressed the big red button before!!! :D
