Ok so let me give you the lowdown...

1. Had to format my disk and install Vista because of a virus I had that wouldn't let me boot up.
2. My sound has gone (worked fine the first couple of boot-ups)
3. I had to get a Activation Workaround because I didnt have a legitimate product key
4. I really dont like vista... :(

Can anyone suggest a better operating system maybe apart from XP that doesnt require a product key but will work with my Wireless adapter which is a: Buffalo WLI-U2-KG125S
If you could help then that would be awesome.

Out.

You can try using a Linux system like Ubuntu or Mandriva ;) Don't know if your network card will work look at the companies website on the drivers and support section see if you can download drivers for Linux systems

Nemesis????
From what I can find, it's just an hack, not a real version.

Just go with 2000, you can update and have not be validated and then you can use it without being worried of being infected with those hacks, that mostly don't work because there is to much removed/disabled or are full of adware or virusses.

I will have to buy it then?
sorry but im still a noob in the relms of betas and os. :)
also was longhorn publicly released as longhorn not vista?
I really need access to the FTP but its gonna take me ages either way...
I will probably stay with vista for a while but any more errors or unexpected shut-downs then 2000 or maybe XP if I can find the disk :)
Is Longhorn Build 4053 on the FTP?

Nemises is an hack of XP (what it seems).

Well, you can use XP with an reset hack or 2000 without anyhacks.

You don't want to be using any Longhorn builds as a main OS!

If you must use any Longhorn build, dual-boot it with your Windows 2000/XP/Vista, or whatever version you use.

Going back to Linux, two things regarding your wifi.

#1, nDISWrapper will likely support your card. It's not as good as a kernel driver but it's pretty damn close. Have a copy of the Windows wifi drivers on hand and load them up in nDISWrapper and you should be good.
#2, debian/ubuntu might have some drivers in non-free, so make sure you try there too.

http://ndiswrapper.sf.net

also, um, ever heard about this wonderful invention called the search engine? yahoo, google, and many others provide an implementation of this, infact it's became so popular every web browser that's available these days have search engine capability built right into the browser, next to the location bar. you should try it. http://www.google.com or http://www.yahoo.com.

Sorry Zimmy...
I did manage to get nDISWrapper but it says that the windows drivers (from my wireless adapter cd) are invalid... Oh well...
And by the way I now have Ubuntu 8.04 dual booted with vista :)

there is (or should be) a utility with ubuntu to add additional GRUB entries, if you ever load up more OSes.

That is a point I was looking at ReactOS but it looks a bit bad in terms of features apparently it has the most Windows like appearence but I don't like the look of it mself. Does anyone use Gentoo Linux?

The good thing about ReactOS is that it is open-source like Linux, is a clone of Windows, but you could modify it to your liking with infringing any copyrights. Thats what I like about it.

With it being a clone of windows will it be able to run .exe files? also would it work with windows drivers? Or would you still have to use NDISWrapper?

I downloaded the Windows XP SP3 x86 NO KEY.iso I thought that with it being "No Key" That it would contain a hack that would let me use it without a key... I was wrong so I get out my Windows Anytime Upgrade disk and installed Windows Vista Starter... Is there anything on the ftp that would help??
