On the 21st of this month, a special event will occur regarding me. It will be my 16th birthday! What do you all think?

Why is it important? People can't drive in the UK until like 17 or 18 anyway, I forget.

I'm not from the UK
Strange, so it would be illegal to have sex? I know it sometimes establishes two brackets, that is anybody under 16 should not have sex with those above...

Age of concent here is 16, never stopped me. It's really only a problem if it involves one person older, one person younger than the age of concent.

Well with 18 you can do anything (nothing illegal tough :P, if i want to do that) with 16 you can only drink low-alcohol liquor (like beer).

Wait, your saying that at 16 in the netherlands you can drink beer?
In Australia, no alchaholic beverages if your under 18.
Also, you can smoke at any age, but have to be older that 18 to buy cigarettes

Well its legally to smoke here at 16 (you must identify yourself at the supermarket) to buy it. But its expensive.
But if they really want it, and your folks saying that it's good, you can smoke under that age.

So:

I NEVER started smoking, and
I NEVER started drinking, try it, it save a lot of money.

Also, tomorrow I am going to be 20 again (ahh, 20, the big 2 and 0, nothing special at that age, just more then 1 1/2 years from completing my school and get into the working business).

And in the Netherlands i life in farm country and some of my class mates come totally wasted on school on monday's, after a weekend of drinking.

I was 19 on the 24th of September, and nobody cared, like nobody cared on my 18th :).

Neither did I.

A birthday is nothing really special - just another nail in the old coffin.

Once you pass 25 life really starts going downhill. Friends are starting to get houses, kids and don't have time to spend weekends playing guitar and drinking beer. Growing up sucks. :)
