I got this new notebook.... Toshiba Tecra 500CDT ... Pentium 120MHz, 64MB of RAM, 12.1" LCD, 1.3GB HDD, CD Drive. :P

I saw it sitting in a dumpster, and I thought it was too good to pass up. Surprisingly it still works, and was formatted with Win98. (it says it's designed for Win95 though).

Anyway, any thoughts as to what I should do with it?

Where do you want to go today?

All Microsoft operating systems!
When was it manufactured? It looks like it was manufactured around 1996 or 1997. If it was, I would recommend putting some old Memphis Builds on it. It would be a good use for an old laptop like that.

Toss it back in the dumpster. Or give it to me, and I'll sell it to some chump on eBay as "rare, vintage computing history"

So I'm guessing you found the charger in the dumpster with it? :x I never find chargers with old tossed out notebooks I find.

It looks like quite the reliable notebook, seems like everything is working 100% on it, I really should get an old one to play around with sometime,

Surprisingly the charger is built-in to the notebook ... on the back there's a standard figure-8 power connector. It's in strangely good condition, there's a few scratches, the battery is dead, and the high-pitched whining fan makes it difficult to use for more than about 20 minutes at a time, but it's still quite good for what it is...

Right now I'm thinking maybe Win95 and some classic games like Doom95 and Duke3D, but I dunno... It's a bit limited by the fact that the only networking on it is dual IrDA ports and a dial-up modem, which makes it quite annoying to transfer files to it. Meh. :P

You could use it as a test PC for some Janus\Chicago\Memphis builds.

Try my battery recovery method on it. It might work. It worked for the one I have that is around the same age (P1 166MHz, 32MB RAM, 2.1GB HD...). Worked a treat for me, 2 minutes > 1 hour :)
