I have come into possession of quite a few of the Windows XP Professional packs that you used to get with a new PC so they are up for sale - they contain the blue XP Pro "getting started" manual and a Dell-branded CD. I have tested the CD in VMware on a non-Dell PC and it installs fine, is a pretty much "vanilla" copy of XP (just a Dell icon in the Start menu - no crapware etc), but if you try to activate it then it says that the product key is incorrect and offers you the chance to enter a different OEM key. I assume that on a Dell machine these are pre-activated and on a non-Dell machine you could enter a legit OEM key from your COA and activate these, though I cannot be sure. No key is requested in the installation, a Dell multiple-activation key seems to be inserted automatically. They're all sealed and all are SP1a-integrated except for one which is SP2 (but they can all be updated to SP3 anyway of course), and no COAs or serials are included.

Anyone want any of these? Make me an offer! :) (doesn't have to be much, I have a fair few to get rid of!)

I also have two Dell Latitude driver/utility etc discs, three PowerDVD for Dell systems and three Roxio Easy CD Creator (Dell but installs on others too) if anyone needs those.

Last chance for these, anyone? :) Say £10 each? Anyone need Windows XP Professional? (use with your own key on a non-Dell, I suspect they would be pre-activated if used on a Dell machine if you're looking to upgrade from XP Home or downgrade from Vista)

In case anyone is wondering, you can integrate service packs and the like and keep the Dell OEM activation.

Do you know if these are definitely pre-activated if you use them on a Dell then? I don't have a Dell machine to test them on, they seem to install fine on others but when you go to activate they ask you to enter a different key.

Yeah, you don't have to put in a key or activate them on Dell machines. Just install.
