I have Windows 98SE installed here, and I wanna run Chrome on it, would Chrome run?

Specs:
2.4ghz Celeron D
1GB RAM
Intel 82845G Graphics
120 GB HD

^Would that run Chrome?

P.S: To those who arent believers that I have this PC, look in the Desktop Thread :P

Edit: Errors corrected by Bender

Actually, I found this guy on Youtube who demonstrates the performance of the 82845G graphics chipset on many modern games.

I don't know whether Chrome will run or not - Why not give it a try? It's a free download anyways, and it would only encompass only a small bit of your time.

I'd say that the processor and RAM are fine, but I've got no clue if it runs on 98. I haven't used that in years.

No offense, but why on Earth are you running Windows 98 on that computer? It could easily run XP.

some XP/2000 only programs can be run on Windows 98 using KernelEx, which is how I have Firefox 3 running on my older 98 laptop.

apparently the function google chrome needs isn't implemented yet.

Compatibility issues with playing older games are a possibility to running older operating systems. Upgrading your computer to a more modern OS may be more secure, but if all of your programs are based off the 9x infrastructure, it's best to simply stick with that OS. For example, a number of my games (such as The Sims, RollerCoaster Tycoon) all have issues using the expansion packs for each game on XP unless I find and download the patches for them.

However, perhaps you should consider dual-booting Windows XP on your system? This way, you can run 98 for everything now, but switch over to XP when you have to. I have to do this for FL Studio purposes only, but perhaps you could do this for Chrome?

Wouldn't it be easier to just run 98 in a virtual machine though?

You don't have to tell me that, I've been working on/with computers since around when Windows 3.1 was released. I was asking him why he doesn't use XP.
