Since this forum is overrun with teenagers :P I may as well post this here

Does anyone here own a Hiptop aka Sidekick, or has used one? My friends (actually, my twin friends :P) have this phone and I like it but the one they have, aka the "current" one in Australia, the hiptop slide is less than impressive. However I love how its got IM/Email/MP3/Web and 20GB of usage/free messaging etc in its $30 plan (not including calls).

I don't know if I should get one... two downsides is the cost ($600 for the slide, then $30/mth over 24 months) and the contract (24 months). Cost isnt so much an issue if I get my hands on the new Hiptop/Sidekick, the "Gecko" - $400 to get it from America.

Bah, I so want one, yet I dont! :D

The price is definatley offputting, are you really willing to spend that much on a phone.
For that kinda money, you could buy a new graphics card, or some more RAM!

Not unless you do first :P

Yeah its a bit much :/ But I usually have the same phone for 2-4 years plus I'm already paying $30 a month.

I just like the idea, that because I'm such a heavy texter (and no its not all omggossip) that theres a plan out there for me :D

Plus the 20GB of data... hmm

I've used a friends Sidekick and I'm not really impressed with it. For the money that you will spend it would be better to get an unlocked HTC smartphone.

Yes, because we all want to spend $800 on a phone, when $400 is pushing it.
