MacOS 9.2.2
1. It would be virus or any malware-less, (Nothing for it)
2. it would load instantly
3. It would load apps instantly.
4. It would be bug-free.
5. It would have EVERY Driver known to man.
6. It would have every Longhorn theme, fully working. (Aero working, especially 4xxx)

Microsoft already made the perfect OS. It was called Windows Me. It's hard to beat perfection.

/me ducks.

The Ephemeral between existance and non-existance: AKA "being"

Favourite OS
Rhapsody, BeOS
Something like BeOS...

*Threadered process model
->Forces all classes and calls to go threw either a hardware abstraction layer or enforces parallel processing

*Driver compatibility with Windows
->Emulate the drivers, maybe steal ReactOS code

*Single User Mode (that actually has 1 user)
-> I don't want a root or Administrator user account on my computer, I know what i am doing... Stop distributing NTFS security over your networks onto my computer 8-)

*Windows style file control
-> I want my interface the be oganized; If its a file my file manager gives it to me; If its hardware the hardware browser gives it... A super tool like terminal that combines these features is too anoying for me to navigates, especially when i don't know what I am doing...

*Compile on run packages
-> Hardware packages should be system specifical compiled on first run... Some kind of extreme version of .Net or Gentoo's approach would be good. I originally praised linux for the approach, that is use generic C libraries to build packages but that gets confusing when there are too many dependencies. Consequently, I want the OS to have 1 library per function -> Easier to optomize so you should get better performance. New functionality should be integrated into the main OS and never be 3rd party.[/list]

1. It must be fast
2. Tiny (less than 1 GB installed)
3. Simple GUI, with the features you need. Like explorer from NT 4.0
4. Broad software and hardware support
5. Stable
6. Bundled with additional software like video editing, media player etc. that can be installed optionally

Hm... I will make it simple, only 2 things:

1. Reliable
2. Great Performance

When I say reliable, it means that it won't crash (theoretically impossible, programming errors), virus-free.

7. It wouldn't hang.
8. Open Source.
9. Compatible with all types of executables (PE,NE,MZ,Mach0)
10. No stupid group policy :x

Why Windows 98? It bluescreened all the time, it was based on top of DOS.

That`s one of the reasons why i like Windows 9x. Almost 100% DOS compatible

If I need DOS I start DOS... (Boot manager entry "DOS" :) ... Remaining pieces from Windows 98. DOS is still working *g*
But I will never ever use a crappy system based on DOS for working.

now, im on XP and I get issus here and there, but more than 98 gave me

Id still use it if it wasn't my hardware being too new to support it

An OS with the functionality and interface (oh, and compatibility) of Windows NT 3.x, which will work on a CGA (might settle for EGA) display and run from a single 720K disk.

Windows 2000, but it works with new software and hardware, and HFS+ support, and a optional disc 2 that installed the Longhorn GUI, DX10 and aero. And last but not least you can remove MSIE and WMP,
