Small list:

The Need for Speed (first NFS)
Beneath a Steel Sky
Lure of the Temptress (first game which I really finished)
Lemmings (classic, you're right!)
Day of the Tentacle (one of the funniest games ever)
Sam & Max Hit the Road

My total favourites 4EVER. DOS is still alive!

I know these have been said, but Wolfenstien 3d and Commander Keen(4 Mostly) bring back great memories of screwing around with hand-me-down legacy pc's when I was a little kid.

A great site for DOS Games.

Games that are still licensed you cant download, not licensed games (or not anymore) you can freely downloaded.

I'd have to say that I most remember playing multiple mods for Doom2, and Duke Nukem 3d. I also played the Quake demo over and over again, never bought the full game. This would have been back in 1997-1998. I eventually moved on to Windows-based games... in fact, the version of Doom2 I had, came with Doom 95, which was a launcher for Doom2 that may have supported directX 2.0 for graphics/sound acceleration (I'm not sure). Before 1996, I played quite a bit of Lemmings on my elementry school's Apple II machines. :P

For every body who wants to run these old DOS Games a few tips:

For DOS only (not for windows 95 and so on):
- DOSBox

For DOS and Windows 95 games:
- Run Windows 95 in VMWare (then you can run all your favorite games again).

Well, i just got back into DOS Gaming thanks to DOSBox and so far, I'm playing Jazz Jackrabbit and The first Commander Keen, If Duke Nukem 3D wasn't Shareware, I'd be playing that a lot too
